2022年5月10日、米国、サンフランシスコ 世界経済フォーラムは、革新的なテック企業100社が新たにテクノロジー・パイオニア・コミュニティに選出されたことを発表しました。「テクノロジー・パイオニア2022」の選出企業には、成長著しい若いテクノロジー企業が多く、ヘルスケアや食料生産など、最先端のテクノロジーで新たな道を切り開こうとしています。
今年は、バーチャル・ミーティングのユーザー向けにバーチャル・インタラクションを向上させるため、触知効果を備えたデバイスを開発したEmerge Nowも選出されました。また、Ampd Energyは蓄電池電力貯蔵システムのパイオニアとして建設業界を変革し、ALifeはAI（人工知能）を利用して体外受精の成功率を向上させ、医療の進化を支えています。
「『テクノロジー・パイオニア2022』の選出企業は、すでに世界中の業界に大きな変化をもたらしています」。世界経済フォーラムのテクノロジー・パイオニア・コミュニティを統括するセムン・ユンは、さらに次のように述べています。「このコミュニティに参加することで、これらの新興テクノロジー企業のリーダーは、自社の技術的先進性だけでなく、私たちのより良い未来を築くために、どのような取り組みを行っているのかを示すことができます」。
選出企業の内、女性経営者が率いる企業が今回初めて3分の1を超え、業界平均を大きく上回りました。ベトナム、ルワンダ、チェコ共和国が初めて参加し、30か国となった「テクノロジー・パイオニア2022」は、世界中の業界を改革しています。
例えば、メキシコのmicroTERRAは、微細藻類を使ったオンサイト型水処理システムを構築し、排水を持続可能なタンパク質源ときれいな水に変えています。ルクセンブルグのMission Spaceは、衛星を利用した宇宙天気情報システムを開発しました。米国のBonumoseは、タガトースやアルロースなどのヘルシーな代替甘味料を低コストで生産する技術で世界の食料システムを改革しています。
過去の選出企業にはAirbnb、グーグル、キックスターター、Mozilla、スポティファイ、TransferWise、ツイッター、ウィキメディアといった、今や誰もが知る有名企業が含まれていますが、今年のテクノロジー・パイオニアに選出された企業は、こうしたそうそうたる企業の仲間入りをすることになります。
また、選出された企業は、テクノロジー・パイオニア・コミュニティで2年間、世界経済フォーラムのワークショップイベントやハイレベルなディスカッションに招待されることになります。
