Energy and Industry Transition Intelligence

The global energy transition is evolving as countries navigate health, geopolitical, and economic crises. The rising urgency of delivering on an equitable, sustainable, and secure energy transition, and reaching net zero emissions by 2050, requires simultaneous progress on multiple fronts.

Considering the changing needs of the energy frontier, a comprehensive understanding of the challenge, a robust fact-base, and multi-stakeholder collaboration are essential for informed and effective decision-making. The Energy and Industry Transition Intelligence program equips policymakers, corporate leaders, and civil society with crucial data and insights, and raises awareness around the gaps and opportunities in transitioning energy and industrial systems.

There are three key activities in the program:

  1. Energy Transition Index: Benchmarks 118 countries on the performance of their energy systems, focusing on equity, environmental sustainability, energy security, and on their transition-readiness.

  2. Net-Zero Industry Tracker: Monitors the pace of decarbonization of eight hard-to-abate industry sectors, which account for ~40% of global greenhouse emissions (Scopes 1 and 2).

  3. Energy Transition Strategic Intelligence Transformation Maps: A comprehensive overview of the energy transition landscape informed by the views of a wide range of experts.
