Wendy originally trained as a Chiropractor, then after practicing for a number of years, returned to University to get a degree in in Computing and a PhD in Creative Technologies, studying walking behaviour in virtual reality. Since 2008, she has led the Virtual Reality teaching and research in the School of Creative Technologies at the University of Portsmouth.
