Susannah Rodgers

Technical Adviser on Disability Inclusion, Energy, Climate and Environment Directorate, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom

A successful former professional Paralympic swimmer who competed at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, winning gold in the 50m Butterfly in Rio 2016 and five bronze medals across both Games. Susie won 30 international medals throughout her career, 17 of them gold. Susie is an expert adviser for global clients on disability inclusion and gender equality. She currently works for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as a technical expert.
Susie is an artist in her spare time and believes in the power of art to raise awareness of climate change. As an Ocean Ambassador for the Marine Conservation Society in the UK, her original art has been turned into products to raise vital funds for ocean conservation efforts.
Susie is a sought-after public and motivational speaker, writer, a frequent podcast guest, conference panellist and facilitator. She has featured in BBC documentaries, short films and as a guest panellist on live comedy shows around the Paralympic Games through Channel 4. She is a technical expert panel member of the Global Disability Advisory Panel at the British Council, advising on inclusive sport and soft power. She is an experienced and qualified non-executive director and recently joined the board of the only global organisation focusing on the intersection between gender and disability rights; Women Enabled International. She is a former director at Spirit of 2012, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games legacy charity. She was awarded an MBE (2017) for services to Paralympic sport by Her Majesty the Queen. Susie has worn prosthetic limbs all her life.
