Sea Economy

Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies offer new means to address environmental and natural resource challenges. In the Fortaleza Hub, Shapers wish to develop an education programme that leverages new tools, technologies and partenrships to better harness and protect the sea - a major driver of the economy and national identity. The programme will equip young people and students with the skills needed to harness innovation for good (for example, how to leverage new data sources concerning oceans or the rapidly proliferating array of ocean sensors to combat the depletion of fish stocks, toxins in rivers, high levels of sea waste or biodiversity loss). Students will be trained to become teachers to scale learning on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and oceans, and members of the Fortaleza Hub will monitor the programme's reach, assimilation, applicability and long-term impact.
