Problem Statement
Construction is the most important economic activity in Mexico, contributing almost 8% of the national GDP, but it is also the most polluting. According to the National Housing Commission (Conavi), the construction sector in Mexico is responsible for 50% of the country's polluting emissions. In addition, inequality and gentrification have caused the most vulnerable people to lack access to decent housing.
Target Group
People of marginalized communities, builders, and material distributors.
Proposed Solution
Create sustainable building blocks, based only on natural elements present throughout the country and agricultural and industrial waste. Then, build sustainable houses in marginalized communities with the eco-blocks, integrating the community in the whole process, teaching them to create the eco-block and to build with them.
Hub Activities
The hub has supported various courses, conferences, and workshops.
We will continue to impact all levels of society with workshops throughout the state.
