PlanetFlix is a project organised by the Fez Hub part of the MENA Climate Literacy cross-hub initiative launched by the Jeddah Hub.
Problem Statement: The lack of awareness, engagement, and understanding of sustainable practices and environmentally friendly actions within our community.
Project Target Group: University student, civil society (NGOs), youth climate advocate, other stakeholders.
Proposed Solution: The PlanetFlix project aims to organize a series of movie screening events on campus and off-campus that educate, inspire, and mobilize the campus community towards sustainable and environmentally friendly actions.
Project Activities:
Project short-term goals: Increase awareness about the PlanetFlix project through targeted promotion on campus, social media, and local media outlets. Achieve a significant number of attendees for the initial movie screening events. Identify any logistical or engagement challenges faced during the initial events, and develop strategies to address them for future screenings. Forge partnerships with local environmental organizations, campus clubs, and other stakeholders interested in sustainability. Begin collecting initial data on participants' attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors related to sustainability before and after the events.
Project long-term goals: Witness a significant increase in the adoption of sustainable practices among attendees and the broader campus community. Observe participants incorporating eco-friendly habits into their daily routines, such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and using sustainable transportation. Build a strong community of individuals, both within the campus and the broader region, who actively engage in environmental initiatives, events, and discussions. Influence campus policies and practices to be more environmentally friendly, such as promoting waste reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainable transportation options.
Project available metrics: Reach: how many people were exposed to the project, either directly or indirectly. This can be measured by counting the number of people who attended events, participated in activities, or saw or heard about the project through media coverage.
Impact: Measuring the actual change that the project made in the lives of the people it was intended to help. This can be measured by surveys, interviews, or other qualitative methods.
Sustainability: measuring whether the project's effects will last over time. This can be measured by tracking the project's progress after it has ended. Collaborators: University, and faculties Local NGOs Other Stakeholders.
