Inclusive Leadership for a Great Reset
The COVID-19 pandemic is accelerating the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s blurring of the lines between people, workplaces and technology, and leading to one of the greatest workplace transformations of our time. At the same time, there is an urgent need to address social injustice, and companies need to ensure that equity and inclusion of all forms of human diversity define the “new normal” in the workplace set to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis.
Redesigning Business Structures for more Equity
The combined global health and social crisis continue to deepen pre-existing structural and social inequities, and require urgent action. As we enter a unique window of opportunity to shape the recovery of our economies and societies, the Great Reset is a chance to build a new system that honours the dignity of every human being. Placing social justice at the hear of the recovery, and prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion will be one of the defining factors of a more just and resilient future.
A Peer to Peer Community of Inclusive Leaders
In response, the World Economic Forum’s New Economy and Society Platform is convening a unique high-level community of Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officers. Almost 100 CDIOs from around the world and across 20 different industries come together in monthly virtual meetings.
This community drives impact by:
- Exchanging among the world’s leading CDIOs on emerging trends, risks and opportunities
- Amplifying the most cutting-edge ideas to redesign workplace structures for more equity
- Developing a vision, strategies and tools to proactively embed equity into the recovery and future of our economies and societies and shape long-term inclusive change
- Pushing individual and collective action for diversity, equity and inclusion
A Holistic and Integrated Approach to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice
The community is part of the World Economic Forum’s New Economy and Society Platform, which is focused on building prosperous, inclusive and just economies and societies. In addition to its work on economic growth, revival and transformation, work, wages and job creation, and education, skills and learning, the Platform takes an integrated and holistic approach to diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice, and aims to tackle exclusion, bias and discrimination related to race, gender, ability, sexual orientation and all other forms of human diversity. It produces data, standards and insights, such as the Global Gender Gap Report and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 4.0 Toolkit, and drives or supports action initiatives, such as Partnering for Racial Justice in Business, The Valuable 500 – Closing the Disability Inclusion Gap, Hardwiring Gender Parity in the Future of Work, Closing the Gender Gap Country Accelerators, the Partnership for Global LGBTI Equality or the Global Future Council on Equity and Social Justice.
