AGS Mental Health Project

Abuja Hub is working to raise public awareness on mental health among youth in Nigeria, reduce stigmatisation and enhance health seeking attitudes towards mental health challenges.

Given the rising uncertainty and influx of opinions surrounding COVID-19, Abuja Hub in partnership with She Writes Woman, commissioned a peer support virtual mental health hangout tagged 'Safe Place Online' to discuss challenges related to fear and anxiety and provide relatable mental well-being solutions. Tips from the hangout were shared across the Hub's social media pages. The Hub also collaborated with the Anti Suicide and Depression Squad to provide free therapy and counselling during the pandemic. Abuja Hub has employed art to improve well-being by creating themed playlists to ameliorate the effects of the lockdown.

The Hub will leverage art, technology and storytelling to improve mental health awareness; and host a dialogue series with relevant stakeholders on key policy reforms.
