1984, started diplomatic career as International Expert, Islamic Centre for Development and Commerce; 1989-90, Chief of Staff, State Secretariat, in charge of Maghreb Arab Union, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; 1990-92, Counsellor of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Morocco; 1992-96, Consul-General of Morocco to Barcelona; 1996-99, Ambassador of Morocco to Colombia and non-resident to Ecuador and Panama; 1999-2001, Ambassador of Morocco to Chile; 2001-03, Ambassador of Morocco to Mexico and non-resident to Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Belize; 2003-08, Ambassador, Director-General of Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; led the negotiations with the EU to grant Morocco Advanced Status. 2008-11, Secretary-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. Since 2011, Secretary-General, Union for the Mediterranean. Recipient of awards including: Legion d'Honneur, France. Recipient of awards, including: Legion d'Honneur, France.
