Yousef Shoukry is the founder of ZShapers and currently works at Ashoka as a regional fellowship officer enabling civic organizations across the MENA region. He is a development practitioner with more than seven years of experience intersecting between civic engagement, economic empowerment, and inclusion. His journey in social development started at the young age of 18 when he founded “VIA Club”, with the aim of reducing the gap between student competencies and market needs. Directly helping 4,500+ university students with training sessions, internships, and work opportunities at multinational corporations. Yousef wore multiple hats throughout his career working as a fundraiser, project manager, and researcher for a number of INGOs and consultancies such as Oxfam, Injaz, Helm Consulting, and Enroot Consulting. Yousef graduated from Cairo university with a degree in business administration and was a lazord fellow in the American University of Cairo's civic leadership program.
During his time in the Giza Hub, he founded ZShapers an initiative to empower university students in leading change by becoming the leaders of the development sector. With the aim of raising the students' awareness of career opportunities in the development scene, he coordinated campaigns across three universities conducting workshops. By engaging sector experts from over 10+ leading local and international organizations including IOM, ILO, and GIZ, the initiative impacted 1,600 students in less than six months.
