Executive Vice-President, Chief Information and Information Security Officer, KT (Korea Telecom)

Dr. Shin is the CIO and CISO of KT Corporation (KT). He is responsible for overall management of the Enterprise IT and Security divisions. He served as the head of CIOs and CISOs for KT group subsidiaries as well. One of the key roles is to build core competencies for IT operations and to protect IT systems and data. The latest achievement was a transition of IT division’s goal from a business supporting operator to a strategic IT business service provider. He also led the successful opening of KT’s next-generation BSS systems.
Joining KT, he served as the CISO (in charge of Enterprise Security Division) in 2014. From designing the enterprise security policies and architecture, Dr. Shin had led one-step advanced corporate security execution plans. As a result, KT has securely protected its enterprise operations and resources while there were a number of cyber-attacks and insiders’ threats. Furthermore, he established the first IT-NW Convergence Security Control Center in Korea.
Dr. Shin served leadership roles in cybersecurity industry for nearly 15 years. Prior to joining KT, he was the CEO of SK infosec, the No1. Cybersecurity Company in Korea. He registered various patents in mobile device and participated in the academic publication of “Cybersecurity and Home Network,” and “Cybersecurity in Mobile Network.” During this time, he was the Vice President of KISIA (Korea Information Security Industry Association). In addition, he personally wrote a book titled “The Organizational Innovation through IT Security” in 2013. Also, he had been the President of the CISSP Chapter in Korea and taught security as an adjunct professor in Dongkuk University.
He received B.S, M.S. (in Mechanical Engineering) and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Aided Engineering from Seoul National University.
