Prakhar co-founded, Indian School of Democracy(ISD) in 2018, which aims to nurture principled political leaders with moral courage and imagination, to make democracy work for every citizen. He engages with politicians from across the political spectrum inculcating dialogue in politics. Before ISD he founded Youth Alliance in 2008, which nurtures empathetic leaders through immersive leadership journeys in remote India. He transitioned out from Youth Alliance to study (MPA) and build knowledge and partnerships for ISD at Columbia University. He is an alumnus of Teach For India from the pioneer cohort of 2009.
He sits on the boards of Kat-Katha, which works on rehabilitation of sex workers in India and Shikshartha, an education organization that works in conflict-affected tribal regions of India to impart contextual education. He has been part of expert committees of UN on youth volunteering, a mentor to various social entrepreneurs in rural and urban India.
He has won various national and international entrepreneurship awards like Rhodes Youth Forum (2014), Google For Entrepreneurs - India (2014), Teach For All Global Entrepreneur (2018), etc. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Vinobha Bhave, he wants to walk across India and commit his life towards connecting hearts and to the spiritual work of truth and reconciliation.
