Nila Moeloek

Minister of Health, Ministry of Health of Indonesia

Nila F Moeloek takes on the new post as Indonesia’s Health Minister since October 2014, in which she will spearhead the Ministry of Health to ensure equal access to healthcare for all. Prior to her appointment as Minister of Health, Dr. Moeloek was the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a ministerial-level post which she held from 2010 to October 2014. In her new role, Dr. Moeloek remains committed to lead the national effort to achieve the MDGs and keep the momentum of implementation of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
Dr Moeloek earned her medical degree in opthamology from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Indonesia. After earning her position as a specialist consultant in ophthalmology in 1998, she devoted herself to pursuing her PhD in ophthalmology, and earned a cum laude degree in 2003. In 2007 she earned her full professorship at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Indonesia.
