Mohamed Okash is a researcher, social entrepreneur, and environmentalist dedicated to addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including climate change, social inequality, and sustainable development. He is the Founding Director of the Institute of Climate and Environment (ICE) in Mogadishu, a leading think tank focused on climate policy, environmental resilience, and sustainable innovation in Somalia and beyond.
Okash serves as a member of the Global Future Council on Climate and Nature Governance at the World Economic Forum, where he contributes to global policy dialogues on environmental sustainability and systemic resilience. With a passion for foresight, governance, and inclusive development, his work lies at the intersection of sustainability, research, and socioeconomic transformation.
He has launched and supported a number of community-powered social ventures tackling development challenges in fragile contexts, with a particular focus on institutional capacity, human capital development, and climate justice. A committed advocate for youth engagement and innovation, Mohamed has been an active member of the Global Shapers Community since 2018, where he has served as Curator, Impact Officer, and Community Champion for Central and East Africa.
