Michael Perkinson

Head, Asia Business Management, Guggenheim Partners

Mr. Perkinson joined Guggenheim in 2012. Since 2017, he has been the head of Brand Marketing for Guggenheim Investments, overseeing a team of professionals responsible for media, communications, Thought Leadership as well as creative services. Since 2019, he has served as the head of Guggenheim Investments’ Asia business, including Japan, East and Southeast Asia, Australia and the Middle East. He serves on the Firm’s Human Capital Advisory Committee. Prior to joining Guggenheim, Mr. Perkinson was for two decades a United States naval officer with combat and peacetime service in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere. He was a US diplomat in the People’s Republic of China, responsible for sensitive Sino-American negotiation. He has been an advisor to several Western intelligence services, and was a partner with Veracity Worldwide, LLC, where he founded the China practice. Mr. Perkinson received his B.A. in Political Science from The American University, studied Chinese politics at the Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies and earned an M.S. in Finance from the Johns Hopkins’ Carey Business School. He is a native of Newport, Rhode Island, lives in Santa Monica, California and speaks Mandarin.
