Research Scientist and Quantum Electronics Engineer, Google

Marissa Giustina is a systems-minded researcher with a broad technical background and a passion for science communication. As head of device packaging and roadmap co-author in Google's Quantum Computing team, Giustina has been responsible for both research and engineering developments that enabled the unprecedentedly capable “quantum supreme” Sycamore processor. Giustina is a highly sought-after speaker: as Senior Technical Spokesperson for Policy Engagements, she has represented Google before prominent global academic, government, and media audiences. Previously, as a PhD researcher under quantum pioneer Anton Zeilinger, Giustina designed and built a 60-meter-long precision apparatus, leading a local team and collaborating with senior scientists at five institutions to settle a 50-year outstanding challenge at the foundations of quantum mechanics. Currently, Giustina's research considers the intersection of robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
