Maria has worked in Responsible Investment for over 17 years, specialising in environmental, social and governance (ESG) research. She joined Legal & General Investment Management Ltd (LGIM) in January 2019 where she is a Senior Global ESG Manager leading the Stewardship team’s efforts on health. Maria was a member of the Access to Medicine Foundation’s Expert Committee for the 2021 AMR Benchmark. She regularly speaks publicly on why LGIM considers AMR a systemic risk and how institutional investors can contribute to stemming the rise of AMR through engagement with the companies in which they are invested as well as global policymakers. Prior to joining LGIM, Maria worked at Newton Investment Management, State Street Global Advisors and the Investment Association.
