Ms. Maha Ali Secretary-General of the Jordanian National Commission for Women since 2022.
Ms. Maha Ali is an international trade specialist with broad experience in trade and industrial policies. She has an MBA, a Trade Policy Diploma, and a BSc in Industrial Engineering. Ms. Ali served as Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply in 2020/2021 and in 2015/2016. During her 20 years of government service, she assumed several positions including the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supplies for five years. She served at the Economic Section at Jordan’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva in 2002. In her early career she was a member of the negotiation teams for Jordan’s accession to the World Trade Organization and Jordan’s Free Trade Agreements with the US, Singapore, Canada, and Turkey.
Ms. Ali chaired several government entities such as the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JISM), Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), the Civil Service Consumer Corporation, the Higher Committee of the Accountancy Profession and the Industrial Scientific Research and Development Fund. She was Deputy Chair of Jordan’s Innovation and Start-ups Fund during 2018-2020. Ms. Ali also lectured as a professor of practice at Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU) and the German Jordanian University.
Ms. Ali ranked as the 8th most powerful Arab woman in government by Forbes Middle East/2015. She is an active member of the Business and Professional Women Association (BPWA) in Jordan. Ms. Ali also is a member of the Advisory Board of the Arab International Investor Forum (IAAF) and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab International Society for Management Technology (AIMICT).
