Global Shaper, Coimbatore Hub

Keerthanaa believes that meaningful change is built on collaboration, commitment, and the courage to start where you are. A software engineer by profession and a sustainability evangelist at heart, she has a track record of blending technology and purpose to create lasting impact.

When she stepped in as curator of the Coimbatore Hub of Global Shapers, the hub was barely functioning. She set about transforming it into a fully functioning, vibrant community - launching new and diverse projects, establishing monthly activities, official meetings, and retreats, and creating a culture where members evolved from barely knowing each other into a close-knit family of Shapers.

Under her leadership, the hub initiated impactful projects including Little Things Green (to imbibe sustainable habits into every life - by doing tree plantation, seed ball making and dispersal, regular river cleanups, and eco-conscious brand advocacy etc), Project Nalam (wellness and health awareness, including blood donation drives and women’s health events), and Shaping Entrepreneurs (enabling entrepreneurship and highlighting social entrepreneurship). She also Collaborated with GSC Projects Blood4All to organize blood donation campaigns and Shaping Fashion events to highlight the value of traditional, sustainable clothing.

Her vision extended beyond projects—she introduced regular volunteering opportunities, organized the first-ever GSCC retreat to BITS Goa, conducted multiple educational retreats for learning and awareness, launched the hub’s official YouTube channel to improve accessibility, increased social media presence, and drafted the hub’s first official charter and updated recruitment guidelines, bringing in 10 new Shapers to drive impact. Through collaborations with other hubs, local organizations, and global initiatives—from the Tamil Nadu Start-up Growth Conclave to Global Accessibility Awareness Day - she expanded the hub’s visibility and strengthened its network and established the Coimbatore hub as one of the most active hubs in the region.

Throughout her term, she personally coordinated all activities, documented them extensively for both internal records and public awareness, and has proudly presented the hub’s impact at annual project showcases every year . Her two main goals for her year as curator were : creating tangible community impact and building deep team bonds - both of which were achieved, leaving the hub stronger, more connected, and more recognized than ever before.

After her term as curator, Keerthanaa continues being an integral part of the Coimbatore hub - from advising in key decision making areas when and where required, to actively organizing and participating in activities and creating impact.

Keerthanaa is also an active participant in SHAPE events and regional retreats, building connections with Shapers across her region, India, and beyond—many of whom have become lifelong friends and extended family.

Beyond her role with Global Shapers, Keerthanaa rescues animals, volunteers for causes close to her heart and raises awareness about sustainability, mindful living, and environmental responsibility to children, adults and everyone.

Professionally, she is a software engineer, specializing in backend development, big data, and analytics, and has developed innovative solutions, including an application to measure the carbon footprint of cloud computing.

In every sphere, she works with the same guiding principles: empathy, responsibility, and the belief that collaboration can turn small ideas into movements that matter.
