I joined BRAC Global as the first Executive Director in January 2022.
Before joining BRAC, from 2012 to 2018, I was the Secretary General of Médecins Sans Frontières having been the Director of programmes from 2006 to 2012. Between BRAC and MSF I supported the creation of the Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP), an initiative launched by the World Health Organisation and Drugs for Neglected Disease Initiative, as the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director. My career started in 1994 working with MSF in a number of African countries and in the Middle East.
Though out my career I have developed significant knowhow in coordinating complex organisational systems within multi-centric organisations. My experience has focused on providing health services and empowering the most neglected in resource-limited environments. In my roles I have led global positioning efforts and defined strategies and systems for securing resources (financial, human, and technical), while ensuring both internal and external accountability. I developed significant experience in supporting populations on the move, developing disease specific programming and working in conflict settings.
I hold a master’s in geography, and a bachelor’s in politics and geography.
