Educational background includes a degree in Physics, an MBA, and graduate studies in Defense and Security. Former managerial executive at ExxonMobil, where she led high-stakes planning and business processes.

Irma has served as Head of Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Leadership Network (LALN); Associate Fellow at Chatham House; Advisory Board Member at the International Nuclear Security Forum; and International Expert at the PIR Center. She was also part of the Fissile Materials Working Group (FMWG) and helped organize the civil society summits parallel to the Nuclear Security Summits.
With extensive experience in strategic foresight, global security, WMD nonproliferation, and ethical frameworks for artificial intelligence, she brings a transdisciplinary perspective that bridges hard science, policy, and diplomacy.
She advocates for international cooperation, inclusive AI governance, and responsible innovation. Her current work focuses on aligning frontier AI development with human values and global stability.
