Bachelor’s degree, Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo; Master’s in Aeronautics, Princeton University. 1969, joined Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ (MIH) Nagoya Aerospace Systems Works as Aircraft Engineer; career in fighter aircraft development spanned 30 years; 1999, Deputy General Manager, Works; 2001, Deputy General Manager, Industrial Machinery Division, implemented new and best practices to improve the organization of a very different business culture. 2003, Member of the Board, Deputy Head, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Systems Headquarters; Head, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Systems Headquarters, Executive Vice-President, and Senior Executive Vice-President respectively; 2008-13, President and Chief Executive Officer, MIH; since April 2013, Chairman of the Board. Former: Vice-Chairman, Keidanren; Chairman, Operations Research Association of Japan. Member of the Board: Seiko Epson Corporation; Mitsubishi Corporation. President: Mitsubishi Foundation; Japan Association of Defense Industry.
