Fagun Thakrar is a film director, founder, and culture leader working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, neuroscience, cinema, policy, and human potential.

She is currently directing a global documentary on AI, humanity, and the future, convening leaders across technology, science, policy, philosophy, and culture to examine the human, creative, and societal impact of artificial intelligence. Her work engages with the growing role of AI in public life, with a focus on human-centered innovation, responsible progress, and the future of human potential.
With a multidisciplinary background spanning medicine, neuroscience, classical acting, film, fashion, and business, Fagun brings a distinctive perspective to the future of technology and society. Her academic journey began at University College London Medical School, followed by training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, the University of the Arts London, cinematic direction studies in the United States, and an MBA from the University of Cambridge.
Fagun is the founder of The Purpose Movie Studio, creating films, initiatives, and cultural projects focused on technology, human potential, and public impact. Earlier in her career, she built an international screen presence as an actress, appearing in Hollywood and international productions alongside Academy Award-winning artists, with work recognized at leading global festivals.
Fagun’s recognition includes being selected in 2023 as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, a distinction recognizing exceptional leaders shaping the future across business, science, technology, policy, culture, and society. Her broader awards and recognition include honors from the BAFTA Newcomers Program, the BBC, and others. She was also featured in a historical tribute alongside Dame Judi Dench celebrating British stage and cinema legends.
