Studies at Madison Business College, Wisconsin, and University of Colorado; 1971, Master's in Public Administration, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. 1965, joined the then Treasury Department. 1979, became Minister of Finance. 1985, Senatorial Candidate. 1985, exiled. Formerly with: Citibank, Nairobi; Senior Loans Officer, World Bank; Director, Regional Bureau for Africa, UNDP. 2005, first African woman to win presidential election. Currently, serving second term as President after winning the 2011 presidential election. Recipient of honours, including: Presidential Medal of Freedom, USA (2007); shared the Nobel Prize (2011); Grand Croix of the Légion d'Honneur (2012), France; Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development (2012).
