Ms. Clara Chan

Ms. Chan joined the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (“HKMA”) in 2010 and has been leading the HKMA’s efforts in private equity, real estate, credit, infrastructure, co-investments and direct investments globally since 2015. She is the honouree of the 2016 Asia Industry Leadership Award of the 100 Women in Finance, and is on the 2020 global list of 40 under 40 named by the Private Equity International. She also acts as an advisor for the Global East Government Funds Roundtable.
Prior to joining the HKMA, Ms. Chan was a member of the Administrative Officer
(“AO”) grade of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“HKSAR”)
Government responsible for subjects covering home affairs, transport and housing, and financial services and treasury. Key projects included cross-border infrastructure
initiatives such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, as well as other finance-related initiatives such as the first issuance of Renminbi bonds in the HKSAR by the
Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China, the inaugural Asia Financial
Forum, and Islamic finance.
Ms. Chan is a barrister admitted by the High Court of the HKSAR. She is also an advocate for diversity and ESG awareness in the finance industry, and has been a frequent speaker on relevant topics.
