Anna Tunkel is Group Vice President and Head of Public Affairs, Strategy and Global Engagement at DP World, an integrated end to end supply chain solutions company responsible for moving nearly ten percent of global trade.
Anna has nearly two decades of cross functional expertise in global public affairs, business diplomacy, ESG and strategic communications. She has a strong record of success as a C-suite strategist and leader of multi-cultural teams in fast-paced environments. She has experience working with Fortune 100 companies, global foundations, international institutions, technology disruptors and civil society leaders including IKEA, Unilever, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The World Bank Group, The Rockefeller Foundation, Malala Yousefzai and many others. Anna has special expertise in developing and managing diverse, innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships that bridge between business and societal impact.
Prior to joining DP World, Anna spent a decade and a half at APCO Worldwide, one of world’s largest majority-women owned public affairs advisory firms, where she built a multi-million dollar global practice focused on strategic partnerships and global engagement; led teams across more than a dozen markets, including a two-year stint in China, and advised the founder and executive chairman of the group. She started her career at the Division of External Relations at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva and Physicians for Human Rights.
Anna has a Master of Science with academic distinction from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She was named one of the 99 most influential foreign policy leaders by the Diplomatic Courier, and is an alumna of the Bucerius and ORF Global Governance Leadership program. She is an advisor to Massachusetts Institute of Technology flagship Solve initiative focused on Resilient Ecosystems and Economic Prosperity, has served on four consecutive B-20 Taskforces during KSA, Italy, Indonesia and India’s G20 Presidencies, spanning energy, climate sustainability, ESG in business and transparency. She is a board member of Seeds of Peace, an international youth leadership development organization committed to transforming legacies of conflict. She is a frequent writer and speaker on innovative public-private partnerships, technology & innovation and inclusive globalization.
