Head, Country Relations and Equity Mobilization, Africa Finance Corporation - AFC

Alice Usanase is a seasoned expert in sustainable finance and infrastructure development, with over 15 years of experience mobilizing capital for energy transitions and critical infrastructure projects in frontier and emerging markets. At the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), she has secured over $1.5 billion in new capital and doubled Member States to 43 countries, strengthening AFC’s role as a key driver of Africa’s infrastructure agenda.

Alice leads equity mobilization, investor relations, and product development, creating innovative financing solutions—including green shares, blended finance, and energy transition mechanisms—to attract DFIs, institutional investors, impact investors, and philanthropic capital. Her work bridges global capital with Africa’s infrastructure needs while advancing the continent’s role in the global climate and energy transition agenda.

Previously, she managed local beneficiation programs at IFC and led industrialization and trade policy initiatives at the World Bank Group to promote regional integration in East Africa. Co-author of Infrastructure Financing in Sub-Saharan Africa and a 2024 WEF Young Global Leader, Alice is committed to delivering impactful, sustainable solutions that drive inclusive growth and energy resilience.
