AgroTech Plus

Launched in Kenya in 2019, Agrotech Plus is pioneering the production of cold storage units (solar-powered and mobile) for small-scale rural produce farmers in arid climates. This innovative entrepreneurial initiative enables farmers to reduce post-harvest losses by 90% and grow more high-value crops, thereby increasing household incomes and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from food loss. Its Agrotech Plus innovation is a “plug and play” modular, solar-powered walk-in cold room, for the 24/7 off-grid storage and preservation of perishable foods. It addresses the problem of post-harvest losses in fruits, vegetables and other perishable food, extending their freshness from 2 days to about 21 days.
