現代の経済イノベーションのエコシステムとして一般に最も認められているものは幾つかありますが、そのなかでも大学は中心的存在です。古くから大学は保守的なものと見られてきましたが、現在のこのエリート機関は、例えばシリコンバレーやルート128、ケンブリッジシャーといった地域の中核になっています。
