C Vijayakumar (CVK) was entrusted with the role of CEO of HCL Technologies in October 2016. Under his stewardship, HCL Technologies has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as a global leader in the digital domain, with notable advancements in brand, performance, and global influence. He was appointed as Managing Director in July 2021.

CVK holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from P.S.G. College of Technology in Tamil Nadu, India. He joined HCL Comnet, a wholly owned subsidiary of HCL Technologies, in 1994 as a Senior Engineer. As part of the founding team of HCL Comnet, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Remote Infrastructure Management proposition, which has since evolved into a multi-billion-dollar global industry.

At HCLTech, CVK has held a variety of leadership roles spanning technology, business, and operations. His strategic foresight and ability to execute complex initiatives have earned him widespread recognition in the industry.

At the helm of HCLTech’ s strategy, CVK has driven the company’s growth blueprint through key innovations in Digital, Cloud, Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence. These efforts have positioned HCLTech as one of the fastest-growing companies in its markets. Additionally, he has been instrumental in launching and scaling the company’s Software product portfolio, which today represents a billion-dollar business unit.

CVK has been honored with India’s Best CEO Award in the IT Services – Large Cap by Fortune India in October 2025. This is the second consecutive year he has won the award. CVK was also ranked #1 in the Best CEO category (overall and sell-side segments) in both tracks in 14th Annual Asia Executive Team survey published by Institutional Investor Research in 2024. His leadership has been lauded across the industry with Business Today, rating him as the ‘Best CEO of the Year’ in IT/ITES Industry in 2021.

He is currently member of the World Economic Forum’s IT Governor’s Community, a Board Member of the US-India Business Council and a member of WSJ’s CEO Council. Under CVK’s leadership HCLTech has been named to Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies 2026 list and recognized as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere for the 3rd consecutive year. CVK also champions the UN Global Compact’s Water Resilience Coalition.
