C. Vijayakumar (CVK) was entrusted with the role of CEO of HCL Technologies in October 2016. Under his stewardship, HCL Technologies has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as a global leader in the digital domain, with notable advancements in brand, performance, and global influence.

CVK holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from P.S.G. College of Technology in Tamil Nadu, India. He joined HCL Comnet, a wholly owned subsidiary of HCL Technologies, in 1994 as a Senior Engineer. As part of the founding team of HCL Comnet, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Remote Infrastructure Management proposition, which has since evolved into a multi-billion-dollar global industry.

At HCLTech, CVK has held a variety of leadership roles spanning technology, business, and operations. His strategic foresight and ability to execute complex initiatives have earned him widespread recognition in the industry.

At the helm of HCLTech’s strategy, CVK has driven the company’s growth blueprint through key innovations in Digital, Cloud, Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence. These efforts have positioned HCLTech as one of the fastest-growing companies in its markets. Additionally, he has been instrumental in launching and scaling the company’s Software product portfolio, which today represents a billion-dollar business unit.

In October 2024, CVK was honored with India’s Best CEO Award in the IT Services – Super Large category by Fortune India. He also topped the rankings in the Best CEO category—both overall and in the sell-side segments—of the 14th Annual Asia Executive Team survey published by Institutional Investor Research. His leadership was further recognized in 2021 by Business Today, which named him the ‘Best CEO of the Year’ in the IT/ITES sector.

CVK is actively engaged in key global discussions, serving as a member of the World Economic Forum’s IT Governors’ Community, a Board Member of the US-India Business Council, and a member of the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council. He is also a UN Women HeForShe Champion. Committed to advancing HCLTech’s ESG initiatives, CVK has overseen the company’s recognition as an ESG leader in multiple global forums, including S&P, MSCI, and Eco Vadis. Additionally, he champions the UN Global Compact’s Water Resilience Coalition for the Yamuna Basin in North India.
