Founder, Eat Better Wa’ik

Bibi la Luz is a creative enthusiast merging food, climate and human value. She holds an MA. International Political Economy (University of Warwick, UK). In 2015 she founded “Eat Better Wa’ik”, in her native Guatemala, an organisation dedicated to reducing malnutrition through creative and inclusive education, impacting 10,000 children, youth and adults, working in local communities, up to global policymaking, and reaching a SROI of $1:$12. Bibi has been recognised as a Hero of the Pandemic in Guatemala, within the inaugural 50Next class by the World’s 50 Best Restaurant as Trailblazing Activist, Forbes 100 Powerful Women in Central America, Trust Changemaker by the Thomson Reuters Foundation. She is part of Global Shapers Community (and served as Community Champion for Central America), One Young World, Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative, Climate Reality, Social Gastronomy Movement and many more. Bibi’s path through international organizations, NGOs, journalism, and academia has brought her understanding and commitment towards improving livelihoods worldwide. She recently led the innovation challenges Food Ecosystems in Arid Climates and Smarter Climate Farmers Challenges with the UpLink team at the World Economic Forum.
