Want to Boost Your Creativity? Try Chatting With a Stranger

When we’re trying to solve a problem, we often call on a friend or family member, but there could be a better approach, scientists have found. The less we know someone, the more likely they are to think differently from us. This increases the chance of ‘creative accidents’ when diverse notions collide in the brain and produce something new. So the key to creativity? Brainstorm with strangers and fine-tune with friends. The results came from a study into how strong and weak social ties impact our creativity. Creativity will be as important as AI in the jobs of the future, along with collaboration, interpersonal skills and teamwork. Watch the video to learn more.
