Why businesses are nothing without strong human rights
Let’s start with a seemingly unconventional proposition: civil society and business share the same space, and therefore should share an interest in defending what unites them.
Mauricio Lazala
Mauricio Lazala is Deputy Director at the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, where he has worked for the past 11 years. As part of the senior management team, he is involved in strategic & financial decisions at the organization, he oversees the Latin America and London researchers, and he also manages work streams such as "Civic Freedoms & Human Rights Defenders" and "Major Sporting Events". Mauricio previously worked at the International Criminal Court, at the Mexican Commission for the Protection & Defence of Human Rights, and at B'Tselem (Israeli Information Centre for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories). Since 2014 he is on the Board of Director at EIRIS Foundation – Empowering Responsible Investment. Mauricio has a Law degree (honours) from University of Cambridge, and a BA in Political Sciences and History from Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
