Masao Takahashi leads Gavi’s efforts to mobilize new investors and drive resource growth, managing sovereign donor relationships and private sector engagement across the regions.
Previously, he held senior leadership roles at the World Economic Forum, where he transformed business sector engagement, enhanced regional strategies, and led the Technology Pioneers program. From 2000 to 2010, he was Chief Consultant at Nomura Research Institute, Tokyo, overseeing projects in corporate strategy, PPPs, policy reform, CSR, and social business incubation.
He also contributes in academia as a Specially Appointed Professor at Nagaoka University of Technology. Masao holds a Bilingual MBA from IESE Business School, Spain, and a Master of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Yokohama National University, Japan, with additional research experience at University of São Paulo, Brazil.
