CS Freeland

Alumni, Austin Hub

Thanks for reading— I’m Christa Freeland, and I mostly go by “CS”! I'm an overachieving Texan with an atypical “portfolio career,” obsessed with true leadership and exceptionalism in our great state. I value original thought, unmatched work ethic, courage, intellectual horsepower, of course a Texan frontiering spirit.

For 15 years I've worked in multi-disciplinary and innovative roles, mostly in downtown Austin. The majority of last decade I worked at what was Austin’s first venture studio, then later a startup accelerator and an angel investor network. Recently I cofounded a local and then state trade association for the investor community, the Texas Venture Alliance, now the largest innovation network in the state.

I’m also editor of the Texas Venture Newsletter where we curate a list of investor-related events and resources for a fast-growing 10K+ readership, published twice a month (sign up for the LinkedIn version on the Featured Section of my profile).

At the age of 32, I was the youngest Executive Director of a venture capital association in the US while cofounding and launching the Austin Venture Association. The next year, I accepted an “Organization of the Year” award from the Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce recognizing work in the local Asian community.

Outside of startups and venture, I’m a World Economic Forum Global Shaper who spoke at Davos, a political campaign advisor & creator of multi-award winning campaigns for Texas mayors and legislators. I also am actively involved with the US Chamber of Commerce as a Fellow and the Texas Association of Business (the state chamber of commerce).

Something unique about me is that I'm an IBM baby who grew up at computer shows! More information at www.csfreeland.com
