Rahul is a financier, policymaker, and technologist.

Previously Rahul was a Managing Director in investment banking at Lazard in New York where he advised businesses, investors, and governments on a range of financial and strategic matters, including M&A, capital markets, and related issues. Rahul founded and led the firm’s special opportunities group, was the firm’s youngest-ever partner, and advised on transactions representing $200 billion in deal value across healthcare, technology, and other sectors.

As a policymaker and regulator, Rahul has served as a senior official at the U.S. Treasury Department in the Biden administration, at the White House in the Obama administration, and at the World Bank and Whitehall.
Rahul also founded and directed the Next Bretton Woods Group at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. His policy work has focused on the intersection of markets and policy in areas like health economics, sovereign finance, and financial stability.

Rahul has been named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Truman Scholar, French-American Foundation Young Leader, Atlantik-Brücke Young Leader, Economic Club of New York Fellow, and one of Business Insider’s “top dealmakers in digital health.” He has authored articles, policy briefs, and book chapters on a range of finance and policy issues. Rahul received graduate degrees in engineering and economics from Oxford and the London School of Economics as a Marshall Scholar, and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Rice University.
