Justine Gauthier is the General Counsel & Head of AI Governance of Mila, a leading artificial intelligence research institute founded by world-renowned AI researcher Yoshua Bengio. An expert on the legal implications of cutting-edge machine learning technologies, Ms. Gauthier provides strategic counsel on the legal, regulatory, and ethical considerations inherent in pushing the boundaries of AI innovation. As Head of AI Governance at Mila, Ms. Gauthier is also responsible for orchestrating organizational-level AI governance strategies as well as engaging with key stakeholders who are shaping AI governance nationally and internationally. A member of the World Economic Forum’s AI Governance Alliance, Ms. Gauthier also sits on the IAPP’s AI Center Advisory Board as well as the Canadian Technology Law Association.
