Gareth is COO for the IUS business in SembCorp Industries and is responsible for streamlining the business unit’s strategic plans, key initiatives as well as all health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) issues.

As Head of the Group’s industrial & urban development portfolio in Indonesia, Gareth also oversees Kendal Industrial Park, an 860ha award-winning estate located in Semarang, Central Java, as well as the 100ha Tembisi Innovation District in Batam, Riau.

Headquartered in Singapore, Sembcorp is a Temasek Portfolio Company and a global expert in energy transition and sustainable development. Sembcorp has a balanced energy generation portfolio of >25GW, including 17GW of gross renewable energy capacity, across 11 countries, comprising solar, wind and battery energy storage systems. The company also has a proven track record of transforming raw land into sustainable developments, with a project portfolio of close to 14,800 hectares across Asia which have generated >400,000 jobs and attracted close to US$58 billion of investment capital.

Prior to joining SembCorp, Gareth was the Founding CEO of Mitbana Pte Ltd, a joint-venture fund management company of Mitsubishi Corporation and Surbana Jurong.

Gareth is a member of the WEF’s Forum of Young Global Leaders. He also sits on the Board of Governors at Republic Polytechnic in Singapore.

Gareth holds a BSc. in Economics (First Class Hons, Dean’s List) from University College London, and a MSc. in Political Science from Columbia University in the City of New York
