Deng Dak Malual

Global Shaper, Kakuma Hub

Deng Dak Malual is a South Sudanese who has spent 19 years in Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp, where he grew into a community leader and global advocate. He served twice as Curator of the Kakuma Hub of the Global Shapers Community (2020–2021, 2023–2024) and has dedicated his work to peace-building, youth empowerment, business development, climate action, and refugee advocacy.

As an elected community leader in Kakuma for 7 years, Deng worked with camp management, the Government of Kenya, humanitarian organizations, refugees, and the host community to foster peaceful coexistence and create opportunities for young people through sports and other initiatives. These experiences established him as a strong voice on refugee issues.

He is the founder of Prime Demand Solution, a youth-led enterprise focused on food security, climate change, and Youth Empowerment, and also serves as a Team Leader at StepUp.One, a social enterprise reskilling refugees with digital skills and linking them with global opportunities.

In May 2025, Deng moved to Canada with the goal of advancing and expanding the impact he built in Kakuma, with a particular focus on entrepreneurship and creating sustainable opportunities for marginalized communities.
