As Head of the Corporate Ethics, Risk & Compliance (ERC) unit at Novartis, Dr. Barbara Badoino leads the implementation of integrated assurance at the enterprise level—bringing together governance, risk management, compliance, and internal controls to strengthen organizational resilience and integrity.
With over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Barbara is a seasoned leader with deep expertise in global healthcare. She is a member of the Ethics, Risk & Compliance Leadership Team, chairs the Novartis Risk Leadership Team, and serves as the Enterprise Crisis Management Leader.
Since joining Novartis in 2009, Barbara has held roles of increasing responsibility across Research, Development, Commercial Operations, and most recently, Ethics, Risk & Compliance. Her current responsibilities span the design and oversight of integrated risk and compliance management systems, including core programs such as Anti-Bribery, Conflict of Interest, Human Rights & Labor Rights, External Partner Risk Management, and Trade Sanctions.
She also leads Enterprise Risk Management, business continuity, and crisis management, as well as the company’s process, policy, and controls framework.
Recognized globally as a thought leader in risk and compliance, Barbara represents Novartis in several communities and boards.
Barbara Badoino holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Genova in her native Italy, speaks three languages, and enjoys spending time in nature and traveling with her husband.
