EU’s Ban on New Petrol and Diesel Cars To be Effective From 2035

Carmakers will only be allowed to sell cars with zero CO2 emissions. The EU’s member states agreed on a new law for a ban on petrol and diesel cars last year. It has now been approved by the European Parliament and is expected to be rubber-stamped in March. It’s part of a broader push to make the EU’s transport sector carbon-neutral by 2050. The law also requires a 55% cut in new cars’ CO2 emissions by 2030. A significant increase on the current 2030 target of 37.5%.
