Elena Calamo Specchia is Global Head of Public Affairs at Royal Philips, a position she was promoted to in May 2019. Prior to that she was Director Group Press Officer and Corporate Spokesperson at Philips’ headquarters in Amsterdam on Sustainability, Governmental and Public Affairs, together with thought leadership on value-based connected healthcare – a role that has seen her working with supranational organizations such as the European Union (EU), the United Nations (UN), the World Economic Forum (WEF), the World Bank, and the World Health Organization (WHO).

As a skilled communications professional and the mother of a growing child, Elena is passionate about addressing today’s environmental and social challenges, including the need for Carbon Neutrality, the Circular Economy and Universal Health Coverage.

Elena joined the Philips Group Press Office in 2011, where she has held a number of roles, including senior press officer and spokesperson for Philips’ Personal Health businesses and communications lead for major exhibitions such as IFA and CES. Prior to joining Philips she gained valuable government affairs experience working for international organizations, including NATO in Afghanistan and the European Broadcasting Union, and as a reporter for leading national and international broadcasters.

Elena holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Arts in European Politics and Institutions.

When Elena isn’t working or dealing with her family life, she combines a love of nature with other outdoor activities, including mountain climbing and lawn tennis.
