The global battery industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by increasing demand for batteries and electric vehicles (EVs).
Zeng Yuqun
Dr. Robin Zeng Yuqun is a Chinese battery expert and entrepreneur. He obtained his Ph.D. in condensed matter physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). In 2011, Dr. Zeng founded CATL, a global leader of new energy innovative technologies. He is best known as the founder, chairman and CEO of CATL. Since 2017, CATL has ranked No.1 when it comes to the global EV battery consumption volume for five consecutive years. In 2020, Dr. Zeng was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by NAATBatt International for his contributions and achievements in the global commercialization of the lithium-ion battery.
He also co-founded ATL in 1999, which later developed into the world’s leading company in lithium-ion batteries for consumer electronics.
Dr. Zeng is actively involved in promoting the academic development of the industry. He is currently a member of the Asian Society for Solid State Ionic Matter and an academic member of the Center for Clean Energy of the Institute of Physics, CAS. In July 2021, He was appointed the honorary dean of the Future Technology Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
