From Pledges to Practice: Lessons Learned from the Agriculture Sector Roadmap to 1.5°C

Forests regulate rainfall, protect biodiversity, support agricultural productivity and help sustain the food systems on which billions of people depend. Yet the expansion of agricultural production into forests and natural ecosystems remains one of the largest drivers of greenhouse gas emissions and habitat loss worldwide, placing increasing pressure on food production.

This white paper, From Pledges to Practice: Lessons from the Agriculture Sector Roadmap to 1.5°C, explores the lessons from the efforts towards a 1.5°C pathway convened by the Tropical Forest Alliance to support reduction of land-use impacts across global agricultural commodity supply chains. The roadmap helped participating companies strengthen traceability, improve transparency and advance implementation of sustainability commitments.
In an era of climate disruption, biodiversity loss and growing food security risks, resilient and forest-positive agricultural systems are increasingly becoming a prerequisite for long-term economic and supply chain resilience.
