Sunita Dangol, engaged in public life from a young age, had founded the youth-led initiative Callijatra, aimed at preserving local scripts. Sunita won the Miss Newa pageant and became the youngest member of the City Planning Commission at Kathmandu Metropolitan City. At 29, she was elected as a Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu with the largest margin across 753 municipalities in Nepal. Over the recent years, she has spoken at prestigious events, including Oxford University and the World Tourism Cities Federation Summit. Sunita also organised ‘Women of World Festival 2024 (WOW Nepal 2024) in Kathmandu. She is a dynamic leader committed to promoting cultural heritage, youth empowerment, and urban innovation. As a dedicated advocate for inclusive governance, she works tirelessly to represent the voices of Kathmandu's diverse communities. An art enthusiast, Sunita is passionate about preserving and revitalizing the city's rich traditions, while also fostering sustainable urban development. A youth motivator and cultural ambassador, she is a new-age politician dedicated to bridging the gap between heritage and modernity, ensuring the city’s future is both progressive and rooted in its cultural identity.
