Member of the High-Level Group on Humanitarian Resilience and Investing and the Global Future Council on the New Agenda on Fragility and Resilience of the World Economic Forum. Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees, Muslim Aid. Member of the Governing Board, The New Humanitarian. Has served on a range of advisory boards, including Oxford University's Refugees Studies Centre and the UN Association of the UK. Editor-in-Chief, Disasters journal. Served on the Independent Team of Advisers to the ECOSOC Dialogue on the reform of the UN development system. Previously led a high-profile UN response in Sudan's Nuba Mountains.
