Prof Lise Korsten is a fellow of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), who is highly committed in volunteering her time and energy to serve the AAS. She believes in using science to improve the quality of life of people. She is also a strong supporter of mentoring young female researchers to become top scientists. Prof Korsten is currently Co-Director of the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Food Security at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
In august 2023, Lisa Korsten is elected head of the new Governing Council of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS). She is the first woman President to lead the Academy. She will serve for a three-year term running from 2023-2026.
