Richard Qiangdong Liu founded JD.com (also known as JINGDONG) in 2004. He has been chairman since the company’s inception and served as its chief executive officer until April 2022, where he transformed JD.com from a pioneering e-commerce venture into a leading technology and service enterprise with supply chain at its core. Under Liu’s leadership, JD.com experienced significant growth and diversification, expanding into sectors including retail, technology, logistics, healthcare, and beyond.

Liu has gained international recognition for his leadership and social impact, notably being named one of "The World's 50 Greatest Leaders" by FORTUNE in 2015. Liu and JD.com have actively engaged in initiatives supporting young people, revitalization of rural areas, disaster relief, and social welfare programs.

Liu received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Renmin University of China in 1996 and an EMBA from China Europe International Business School in 2011.
