Dong Kwan Kim

Vice-Chairman, Hanwha Group

Mr. Dong Kwan (DK) Kim is the Vice Chairman of Hanwha Group and Chief Executive Officer of Hanwha Solutions, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Corporation, and Hanwha Impact. Founded more than seven decades ago, Hanwha has been accelerating global growth in the industries of energy, aerospace, and shipbuilding and maritime solutions. Kim has been at the helm of Hanwha’s global transformation, advancing innovative technologies and strengthening Group synergy across industry value chains. Under his leadership, Hanwha has integrated world-class shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean and U.S. legacy shipyard Philly Shipyard into its portfolio to advance Hanwha’s global shipbuilding base and provide strategic support for future naval fleets. This expanded shipbuilding capability also underpins Hanwha’s broader commitment to energy security, as the company develops cutting-edge vessels for energy transport that complement its comprehensive portfolio of energy technologies including next-generation solar modules, AI-driven energy management systems, offshore wind, and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Kim has also played a central role in establishing Hanwha’s maritime decarbonization roadmap and building out a complete solar value chain in the U.S., reinforcing the Group’s long-term growth trajectory. Since 2010, he has led Hanwha’s strategic partnership with the World Economic Forum, contributing to key initiatives such as climate change mitigation and participating in WEF’s First Movers Coalition (FMC) and Trillion Trees Platform, 1t.org. He was selected in 2013 as a Young Global Leader (YGL) in recognition of future leaders who possess the core qualities required to build a more sustainable and inclusive world. DK holds a BA in Government from Harvard University.
